Visa will be implementing new fees for Visa and VPAY transactions on 1st April 2018. Here you can find out how the fees will change.

All fees have a fixed and a percentage component. The fixed component includes things such as authorisation, clearing, and settlement fees for domestic, European and intercontinental transactions. The new fees are as follows:

  • Domestic transaction: EURO 0.0082
  • European transaction: EURO 0.0168
  • Intercontinental transaction: EURO 0.1075

The percentage component for "card not present" Visa transactions (online transactions or transactions via e-mail or telephone) for inter-regional transactions will increase by 0.15%.

How will this affect your business?

Your costs will increase if your business:

  • has a low average transaction value;
  • performs many European or intercontinental transactions;
  • pays a lot of refunds;
  • cancels a lot of transactions.

Your costs will decrease if your business has a high average transaction value on its domestic transactions.

The table below gives an indication of the impact on the transaction costs for various ATVs.
